moving office soon – all very exciting! – have attached some photos below of what the new place looks like at the moment (its nearly finished!!!)

excuse the skip...

these are really nice chairs... and we've had to put the iron grates on all the windows as a security feature (part of the MoD contract)

after reception we have our project rooms... these will be used for us to generate all manor of projects in for both our client's projects and our own.

this is my office... I now have some furniture in there

we've put the new corporate ID on all the doors - looks really smart.

we have two new kitchens...

ALC 2009 Conference in Austin Texas

This was my first (of many I hope) ALC conferences.

Given the enormous amount of information that we have been given its difficult to summarize to under a million words, but here are my key learning points.

Use Technology. The use of technology in the language industry is vital to improve margins and improve customer service. Many providers attended the conference (most notably an excellent presentation from Alain Chamsi).
Understand the supply chain. Language translation is just one step of a much larger process… how is the content created and how will the service be consumed (by the end user. What can we do to help this process.
Network. Lots of ideas and knowledge can be exchanged and discussed in the group. Its a great group of people with a collective experience of thousands of hours in our industry.
$12 billion. If the industry is worth this amount of money, who is doing all the work?
170 interactions. Our average client will have 170 interactions a day, our cost proposal being just one of them. Make sure this process is managed, developed and improved. Am I still on your radar?
Growth. The demand for our services is still growing, and there are plenty of opportunities out there.
Austin Tx is an AWESOME town!

To celebrate K International‘s awesome sales performance this month Sam took her team go-carting.

Here are some of the highlights.

PJ splits 3 jump suits trying to find one that fits him

Lex and Caro crash... Sam sneaks by on the outside

PJ tries to get past Paul (for about 10 laps)

Sue destroys her go cart - runs back to the pit for a new one

Piotr and Paul make a Dave Sandwich

Sue gets her new cart and shunts Carolyn

in the end - Lex wins!

Piotr crys but Sam cheers

Lex 1st, PJ 2nd, Paul 3rd
