ISO 9001:2008

YEAH! We passed the new quality standard ISO 9001:2008. Not difficult really, we have been preparing for the audit for a long time and have all the new procedures that the new standard requires listed, tested, in use and ready for inspection.

There is a page on the website about it – ISO 9001:2008 – You can also download our certificate from there as well.

Sign Language Video

Creating a professional Sign Language Videos is a science. We’ve spent 100s of man hours researching this subject and have finally made a page on our main site about the topic.

The page is here – Sign Language Videos. Let me know how you get on.

Endangered Languages

People often don’t realise that languages are living things. New ones evolve and sadly some die from time from time.  The depth of this situation has been highlighted by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with the release of its Atlas of the World’s Language in Danger. Bloglingua.com has more information if you want to see which languages are in danger.

In total there are 2,500 languages classed as endangered.

We have just completed (and been awarded) the CAESER (Corporate Assessment of Environmental, Economic and Social Responsibility) Accreditation.

Great news!

This is in part recognition of the 50,000 tree planting campaign that we began last year. I’m at the site on Friday so will take a few photos of the progress and report back.

Low Budget Chroma Key

aka Green screen.

One of the best things about working at K International is the diversity of the projects that I get involved in.

The picture of me below ws taken a couple of weeks ago when we made a Chroma Key Screen for a Sign Language DVD that we were making for Luton County Council.

Telephone Interpreting Demonstration

A while back we made a demonstration mp3 of our telephone interpreting service. Thinking it was straight forward to produce (and maybe believing the hype) I used my MacBook to put it on YouTube.com… in the end this was the process.

> Export to YouTube… but it kept timing out ???

> So sent the whole thing to GarageBand,  and then

> Sent the whole thing to iMovie and uploaded it

Seems like a lot of work but now we know we’ll be making a few more of these.

Anyway… here is the video
